Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.
Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced problems to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.
At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.
Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.
"The necessity is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," was stated in a public message.
Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.
Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.
A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.
Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.
Area administrators said the metropolitan region experienced heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.
The assaults come after periods of air raids in the region, portions of which remain under the control of invading troops.
The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.
Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting energy systems.
Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
